Golden milk

This is one of my absolute favourite recipes. Anti-inflammatory, comforting, sweet and spicy, it packs an amazing punch when you’re feeling under the weather, inflamed or sore, or just need something to soothe and heal.


Ingredients

  • 2 tsp turmeric (powdered or ground, organic preferred)

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp cardamom (ground)

  • 1 tsp ginger

  • 1 tsp honey

  • Twist of black pepper

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or milk alternative - coconut is good)


Combine spices in a jar.

Pour milk into a saucepan, and add 1-2 tsp spice mix.

Gently heat until not-quite-boiling and colour changes slightly, stirring occasionally to prevent spices sticking to bottom of pan.

Stir in honey and pepper until honey has melted.

Strain to remove grit, and drink warm.

Notes: Prepare a jar of spices ahead of time, and use 1-2 tsp per cup. Spice mix can be adjusted to taste preference - play around with ratios and add additional spices as desired.
